HARTLEY’S DIGEST BROTH (VEG.)

Hartley?s Digest Broth (Veg) is prepared by using Veg special infusion in place of tryptic digest of heart muscle thus making the medium free of BSE/TSE risks. This is the modification of the medium described by Hartleyfor the production of diphtheria toxin. Hartley?s Digest Broth (Veg) can be used for the recovery of fastidious organisms such as Group A, C, G Streptococci and Streptococcus pneumoniae from small inocula. It can also be used to recover Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Monckton used it as enrichment medium for the same organism. It may be used for cultivation of blood samples, sterility testing, production of diphtheria toxin etc.
